This photograph was made from the north end of the Franklin Street bridge, which is just west of the Merchandise Mart at about 5:00PM.  It depicts a classic view of the Chicago River, looking east.  Visible are Marina City, The London House with the Automobile Club building's tower behind it, the Union & Carbide building, the Jeweler's building, and Leo Burnett building, among others.  An El train passes over the newly rebuilt Welles Street bridge.  One section of the recently opened extension to the Chicago River walk is visible in the lower righthand corner of the photograph.

Despite the mid-November date, boat traffic was still flowing, although no boats are visible in this photograph.
