Sometime on or shortly before Columbus Day 2024, vandals attacked a beloved statue of Lincoln in Chicago’s Lincoln Park, trying to draw a connection between Native Americans (United States) and Palestinians (Israel). Here are my thoughts about the attack and images depicting its aftermath.

This afternoon, I attended a one-man demonstration at Buckingham Fountain that brought out at least 100 Chicago Police officers, which reveals just how seriously the city is taking the potential for disruptions and chaos into account. Sonya Massey
There was a small demonstration at the intersection of Randolph and Michigan Avenue demanding justice for Sonya Massey, who was shot to death in her home by a Sangamon County police officer. Here are my thoughts about and images from the demonstration.
Red and Blue
The Chicago Firefighters Union held a march today to coincide with the NASCAR race in Grant Park. They were demanding a contract from the City after three years of not having one. Here are my thoughts about and images from the event.
Demanding Prison Reform
Today a group of demonstrators called for prison reform, particularly with respect to the Menard Correctional facility in downstate Illinois. Many of the speakers were related to inmates at Menard, resulting in some highly impactful speeches. Here are my thoughts, together with the images I made during the 75-minute rally.
The Orange Tapestry
On Wednesday I attended the March Fourth Rally in Washington, D.C. Members of the Highland Park, Illinois and the Uvalde, Texas communities came to Capitol Hill, demanding an assault-weapons ban. The rally lasted 75 minutes, followed by a march. I heard some of the best speeches that I have ever heard at a demonstration. Here are my thoughts and the images I created.

Last night a gunman shot nine people, killing two, at the corner of State and Chicago Avenue. The event transfixed the public. The media was out in force today. I spent two hours in the area this afternoon. Here are my thoughts and images.
