All in Demonstrations
On November 6, 2025, those who gathered on the National Mall in Washington, D.C. the prior day returned for a second day of demonstrations. About 200 people marched from George Washington University to Georgetown University. By and large, the march was a bust. Here are my thoughts about and images from the event.
To commemorate the anniversary of the election that brought Donald J. Trump to power for a second time, several groups held a rally on the National Mall near the Washington Monument on November 5th, 2025. Somewhere between 500 and 1,000 joined together, many dressed in fanciful costumes inspired by the demonstrators in Portland, Oregon. The group then marched to the Capitol and the U.S. Supreme Court. Here are my thoughts about the demonstration and the images that I captured.
Members of the Tigray diaspora held a march in Washington, D.C. on November 4, 2024 to commemorate the fifth anniversary of the Tigray genocide in Ethiopia. During the four days preceding Donald J. Trump’s military parade celebrating the U.S. Army’s 250th Birthday and his 79th birthday, I spent considerable time walking the streets of Washington, D.C. (when I was not on Capitol Hill advocating for Ukraine). Assuming the role of street photographer, I captured demonstrations, press conferences and other First Amendment activity.
