At the suggestion of a Chicago’s Ukrainian Community leader, I traveled to Washington, D.C. to cover four days of events surrounding the third anniversary of Russia’s 2022 invasion of Ukraine. Signs are everywhere in New York City, taking many forms. Collectively, the signage reveals our collective consciousness. On this trip, the signage brought together Halloween and the Presidential election, which complemented each other. One produced anxiety, while the other reduced it.
