On Friday, March 20, 2026, I visited a mural depicting Cesar Chavez on Southport Avenue in Chicago. It was still intact, with no signs of vandalization. Here are my thoughts about and images from my journey.
On Sunday, March 8, 2026, a group of 30 demonstrators rallied in Jane Byrne Plaza (site of Chicago’s historic Water Tower) against Palantir Technologies, a government contractor that has licensed its technology to ICE and the Israeli Defence Ministry. On Saturday, January 24, 2026, Indivisible Chicago called for an emergency rally in Logan Square at the Illinois Centennial Memorial following the killing earlier in the day of Alex Jeffrey Pretti by U.S. Border Patrol agents in Minneapolis. Saturday, January 24, 2026 proved to be another cold day in Chicago, with temperatures hovering near 0° F. Nevertheless, Rabbi Michael Ben Yosef and another demonstrator staged a rally at Congress Plaza in Grant Park demanding that ICE be abolished. Nearby six or seven members of Chicago’s Iranian Community held a demonstration calling for regime change in Iran. Here are my thoughts about an images from the two events.
On Saturday, January 10, 2026, Rabbi Michael Ben Yosef held a rally near Federal Plaza to call out ICE and the Trump Administration. The rally was poorly attended when compared to rallies in other cities, but those who did attend were enthusiastic. The group marched to Wacker Drive, across the River from Trump Tower.
At 4:00 PM on Friday, January 9, 2026, a small group of demonstrators held a vigil outside the Federal Courthouse for Renee Nicole Good, the Minneapolis woman who was shot to death by ICE Agent Jonathan Ross earlier in the week. Here are my thoughts about and images from the event.
