Members of the Tigray diaspora held a march in Washington, D.C. on November 4, 2024 to commemorate the fifth anniversary of the Tigray genocide in Ethiopia. The group marched to the White House, and then headed to the National Mall for a memorial service. Here are my thoughts about and images from the solemn event.
While in Washington, D.C. this past week, I stumbled upon several Uyghur activists across the street from the White House. Four of the demonstrators had begun a hunger strike two days earlier. New Jersey Congressman Christopher Smith was the featured speaker. Although the gathering was small, it was one of the more emotional demonstrations I have attended. Here are my thoughts and images.
