Santa's CTA Express
On a more positive note: The CTA Christmas/Holiday/Santa train is back this year after a one-year Covid-induced hiatus. This is the 30th anniversary of this beloved event. For six or so weeks before Christmas, the CTA runs an ‘L’ train throughout the system. This year, the schedule included two three-hour periods when the train circulated around the Loop, with elves onboard handing out candy canes.
If you have been out to the CTA’s Skokie maintenance shop, you know the folks who keep the trains running are talented mechanics and artists. So it came as no surprise just how elaborate the lights, the signs, and Santa’s sled were. The CTA found the perfect Santa. He was plump and jovial, just like Santa should be.
Happy Holidays.
